The Pvt George Phillips Detachment #1214 is a chartered subsidiary organization of the
National Marine Corps League. We are a Chartered non-profit fraternal organization
dedicated to preserving the traditions and promoting the interest of the United States Marine
Corps.
Our Detachment is named for a Marine who gave his life to save the lives of several other
Marines on the island of Iwo Jima during WWII. For his valor, Pvt. Phillips was awarded the
Medal Of Honor.
Membership is open to:
- Members of the United States Marine Corps who are currently on active duty or who
have been discharged under honorable conditions and have served a minimum of ninety
days of active service,
- Members and former members of the United States Marine Corps Reserve who have
received no less than 90 Reserve Retirement Credit Points,
- Navy Corpsmen, authorized to wear the Marine Corps Device or War Device worn on
the service ribbon authorized for FMF Corpsmen
in accordance with the rules and regulations of the National Marine Corps League.
In general our membership resides in the area of St. Louis County, MO. known as "West
County" and in Franklin County. However, anyone who meets the requirements of
membership and wants join the Detachment is welcome.
Our membership consists of Marines from WWII to present day.
